Time Management Tips for Creatives

Some of my best tips for writers, don’t have to do with writing at all. I think often times we put creatives into a box and say, “Well, I don’t like time management” or I’m not organized enough.

But, here’s the thing. I think we can all benefit from a little bit of business training when it comes to running our creative projects.

Here’s some of my best tips for getting projects done on time.

  1. Create a block of time where you work. This means you need to map it out into your schedule and treat it like an appointment. It also helps if you mark down the deadline a few days ahead to give yourself time for revisions and changes before submitting your project.

  2. Have a starting ritual that you love. This can be a cup of tea or coffee, going for a walk, doing some stretches, etc. It’s a way to signal to your mind and body that it’s time to work and that you need to focus. My personal favorite it coffee! Although I switch to tea on occasion.

  3. Ask for help from someone with more experience. The reason you may not be getting your creative project completed might be because you don’t have enough information. It’s super important to gather research and have all of your resources up front before beginning. This might require booking a meeting or asking someone who can give you advice if you get stuck.

I hope these tips help, and happy writing!
